As I wrote in my initial plan I envisaged having to replace the suspension components with new items as the dampers spring and bushing all deteriorate with age. No matter how well the car has been kept the cars handling would benefit from having fresh suspension components.
I managed to source a set of fully adjustable coilovers, which include new bushings, dampers and springs. The items are extremely well built and a worthy replacement. Not only do they sharpen up the handling but you can also adjust the height of the car to suit the wheels/tyres you put on the car.
Having driven the GTI since they have been fitted the ride is much more consistent and fluid, and close to how the car would have performed when new. I would highly recommend these units to any mk2 Golf GTI owner.
